COVID-19 Testing

Bessemer Quick Care Clinic offers limited-contact COVID-19 testing for the general public, health care workers, and First Responders. Testing is done by appointment only. Turnaround time for all testing is 24-48 hours, but priority will be given to health care workers and First Responders to ensure they are able to return to work as quickly as possible.

Who Can Get Tested?

Anyone, ages two years and up, regardless of symptoms or exposure. If you do have respiratory symptoms, our lab tests can identify the specific pathogen causing the issues…whether it’s COVID-19 or something else.

For COVID-19 testing, patients must be able to:

  1. Complete a telemedicine screening via our HIPAA-compliant app, Spruce.
  2. Perform a nasal swab on themselves or accompanied by someone who can perform the test for them.

How Does It Work?

  1. Simply text “I want to schedule an appointment” and we will contact you ASAP to get you registered.  After registration, we will send you the link to download our HIPAA-compliant App, Spruce, which you will download to your device or desktop.  We will send you a pre-screening questionnaire via the app to complete before scheduling your drive-up testing appointment.
  2. We will provide you with instructions via the app regarding when and where to arrive, park, and how to perform the self-collection.
  3. Instructions will be provided via text and during your telemedicine visit regarding the drive-up testing. We will let you know when and where to arrive, park and how to perform the self-collection.
  4. Once finished collecting your sample, place the test kit on the windshield of your car.
  5. Once our medical tech has picked up your sample, you are free to leave. When your test results are back, we will notify you in the app with any instructions or prescriptions, if necessary.

This process allows for quick access to testing while reducing potential virus transmission during the sample collection process as well as eliminates the unnecessary use of personal protective equipment. Below is a video illustrating how easy our drive-up testing process is.
